%d bloggers like this:

The answer must be 9, from 6/2 *(3), because 6/(2*1+2) is 1.

Having not watched the video, I’d say 1.

9

How do you get the answer 1?

Answer is 9

Without watching the video, answer is 1. Here’s why:

Order of operations: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.

Therefore, first is (1+2), which equals 3.

Next, no exponents so you move on to multiplication, 2×3, which equals 6.

Then division, 6/6 which equals 1.

Order of operations:

Parentheses: (1+2) equals 3. No exponents so move on to multiplication: 2*3 equals 6. Division: 6/6 equals 1.

In the video, the calculator being used is not programmed to understand order of operations automatically, and it hence performs solving in the order it was written.

Someone on internet explains it better than me but this is how I was taught. Multiplication & division have equal precedence to each other. Same with addition to subtraction.

“Parenthesis has the highest order of precedence, turning6/2x(1+2) into 6/2×3

Division and Multiplication rank with equal order of precedence.

and acc. to your own reference: >>Divide and Multiply rank equally (and go left to right).

so proceeding left-to-right: 6/2×3 becomes 3×3 becomes9

Case Closed!”

It’s that equal precedence thing that got me, haha

Yep it’s easy to forget or maybe its passed over in school who knows

Easy to forget, for me at least haha. I’m usually really good at math but i guess i’ve been neglecting basics lately
